Midiflow Scales is a MIDI effect application designed for Audiobus 3, providing musicians with powerful tools to manage note selection and scale adherence. The app allows users to filter out undesired notes, remap them to the nearest permissible note within a scale, and significantly enhance the performance of any MIDI setup.

The concept of a scale in music theory serves as a foundational aspect, defining a collection of tones in relation to a root note. This enables the construction of distinct chords and melodies that characterize each unique sound profile. Notably, the Ionian scale on C, utilizing all white keys, stands out as one of the most recognized scales, while the comprehensive chromatic scale incorporates both black and white keys.

The keyboard-style note selector featured in Midiflow Scales allows for intuitive activation or deactivation of specific notes. Upon altering the root note from its default of C, the app automatically adjusts selected keys to reflect the new scale configuration. For instance, changing from C Ionian to G Ionian will result in F transforming to F#.

In addition to simply muting extraneous notes outside the defined scale, Midiflow Scales offers the ability to shift these notes back into an acceptable range. Users can easily toggle between filtering and remapping functions via a selector interface. The adept algorithm intelligently aligns activated notes with scale keys, simplifying diverse scale play using just the white keys and enabling seamless note transformation across various scales.

The "White Keys" option enables users to play scales without needing to navigate complex tonal structures; all necessary notes are proportionally designated to successive white keys. Conversely, selecting the "Chromatic" option allows performance across all available keys in sequence.

The versatility of this note rem mapper yields numerous creative opportunities. Musicians can engineer bass lines from existing melodies by selectively activating tones through the app. This feature is particularly beneficial for live performances where musicians may wish to explore variations or layered sounds by thinning out tracks and removing certain tones.

Finally, integrating Midiflow Scales with additional MIDI effects such as Midiflow Transposer under Audiobus facilitates advanced harmonic structures. This chain allows for transposition by specific intervals while ensuring adherence to chosen scales, vastly expanding creative possibilities during composition and performance.
